Rinse and Repeat

Do you ever feel like your day only consists of 4 things - repeated 3-5 times daily.

preparing food
serving food
cleaning up food
and then changing the dirty diaper.

With the third child I am beginning to understand more fully the statement "barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen"

You have to love Mondays!

(no I am not pregnant, I was more referring to the in the kitchen part.

Matteo's One Year Old Stats

Well the numbers came in today.... the big guy tips the scales at a whopping... 21 lbs!!! That puts him in the 25% for weight. He is 29 inches long which puts him in the 50% for height. Some how Matt and I ended up with a average height skinny kid, genetics are really weird. For all of my avid readers out there you might have noted that those numbers show a drop off his growth curve. Six months ago he was 50% weight and 60% height. The pediatrician said that all was fine, that was just do to the increase in his motor activity. He expects him to stay in this % class now or move back up to were he was, we will check again at 15 months.

The best part about the exam was when he was checking out his leg muscles by gently pushing, pulling and rotating the legs. Matteo thought it was hysterical to resist his movement and lock out his legs. This was of course after I had told Dr. T. that he was not walking. That he showed no interest, was not even balancing on his own and when you tried to set him down in a standing position he simply buckles his knees and refuse to stand. My child will not even walk with you holding his hands. So he continued to play with his legs and Matteo kept thinking it was the best game and kept pushing back. Finally the Doctor said there is no reason this kid is not walking expect for pure stubbornness. He has the muscle control and strength, he obviously just doesn't want to. With that he grabbed Matteo from my arms and took him across the room. Matteo got mad and wanted right back to me, but Dr. T. was not going to let him crawl. After about minute Matteo realized his only way backed to me was to put his feet down and walk. Low and behold hold the stubborn little kid put his feet down held on to Dr. T. with one hand and walked on over. What a nugget.

All in all the kid is doing great! We still love him after a year, stubbornness and all we are going to keep him.

Happy Birthday Matteo!!

One year ago on November 10, 2007 at 4:51 Matthew Jr. joined our family. Since then, he has grown to be a bundle of joy, energy and love. He may not be walking or talking, but lets make it clear he has no problem keeping up with his big kids. And there is definitely no problem when it comes to knowing what he wants. The big guy will eat every morsel you put on his tray and will take apart any toy you put in his way. He wants to be apart of all the action and don't think for one moment you are doing to leave him in any room by himself!! But must of all he loves to be with his brother and sister. Matteo thank you for blessing our family in so many ways and being such a great little brother and son. We love watching you grow and learn!

What They See

Yesterday, I took a few extra moments I had to remove the McCain and Yes on 8 bumper stickers off my car as Serafina was riding her bike around the driveway. When she realized what I was doing she stopped riding and ran over very concerned.

"Mommy, don't take McCain off, he has not won yet." (we all ready explain to the kids that Obama won, etc., however when your 3 it is a hard concept.)

"Remember Love, McCain lost. Obama is our new President and in 4yr there will be a new election, then it will be a new person we will support so we will get a new sticker."

Serafina looks confused. So trying to have a little fun, I jokingly say, " Maybe Mommy will run for President. Should Mommy be President?"

To this she got very stern and said, "NO! Daddy works!!! You stay home with kids!!."

"I could be president or go to work."

"NO!! Daddy works! Mommies stay home with their kids!!"

I about died, I have never said anything of the sort like that. I guess it is all what they see in their little worlds. I did reassure her that I would not run for president. I also told her that women/mommies do/can work and are great at their jobs. I used some examples of friends we have, she just never sees them at work, she only sees them with their kids, to funny, so she thought they were all like us.

Politcal Cookies

Many have been asking about the cookies that we had on Halloween. Well being election day and all. Matt had me pick up some more to have for all his volunteers at the office. So I took the liberty to grab a picture with my phone before handing them off. So with no further ado - McCain and Palin on a yummy sugar treat!!

Halloween, Goats, Date Night and Elections

I don't know how other family celebrated Halloween weekend but the Regusci tried to leave no stone unturned. Friday was jumped kicked with delivering Halloween treats to Uncle Trevor and Uncle Jon's office and then also to Daddy at his office. Of course in our family these were very special Halloween treats. A local bakery was/is making cookies with McCain and Palin's picture on them so of course those were the boy's special treats!! They were all very excited.

For our evening activities we dressed the kids up and took them down to our church which does a huge fall festival on Halloween. There the kids get to play carnival games, jump in about 10 different bounce house, decorate cookies, eat pizza, participate in a cake walk, eat Doc Bernstein's ice cream and of course get lots of candy. Sam and Serafina just love to go every year and all there friends from church are there so they just think its the best thing. After the festival we made one trick-or-treat stop at our babysitter, Joanna's, house to say hi. The kids really wanted her to see them in their costumes.

Joanna; worlds best babysitter!

Since it was Friday night that meant we had one more activity, FOOTBALL. We headed over to AG to watch Mario play football. We also wanted to make sure that Noni and Nono got a chance to see everyone in their costumes. Karlee was supossed to be there too, but also being a teenager she choose to go hangout with her man and some from friends!! What a punk. AG was playing Paso and it was a sad game, we lost. We ended up leaving at the beginning of the 4th quarter because the kids were fried and with score being 0-31 we were pretty sure the game was over. None the less it was a fun game to watch and it was fun seeing the band all dressed up in their costumes. The kids loved showing their costumes to the teenagers! And of course they loved getting a chance to sit and eat candy (until mom said no more).

After a great Halloween night, Saturday came fast and furious! With Matt running the Republican office in SLO this is go time. He has been spending every and any extra time up at the office making phone calls, getting volunteers and walking precincts. Well a few weekends ago I was in a bind childcare wise and need him to take Sam to the office with him. That day he was walking precincts, Sam went along with him. Ever since then Serafina has been begging to go. Well this was the last possible weekend!! Myself, Mrs. Introvert, loaded her and Matteo, Sam stayed home with Nana, and went up to SLO to walk precincts with Daddy. Oh my gosh the child loved it. LOVED IT. She had to have her McCain sticker on. She wanted to knocked or ring the door bell. Then she would stand next to Matt and smile. If they had a telephone book on their porch or mail or a package she would pick it up and hand it to them. I thought we would go to 2 maybe 3 house and she would be done. We did a block and I asked her if she was done. She said "No lets do a couple more house." We did two more. I told her it was time to go. We put her in the car kicking and screaming. As we drove off she was pointing to house saying "We didn't go to that house." In between gaint sobs!! She is the funniest thing in the world. Sunday came around and we gave her the choice to go with me to church or with daddy down to the office. (they were not precinct walking). She choice to go to the office. She spent the morning working up in the office with her McCain sticker on, making phone calls reminding people to vote. (her phones of course didn't work).

Amazingly enough, Matt and I were able to sneak out Saturday night for a couples date with my parents and good friends Summer and Jeff. We had dinner at CPK and then went and saw the movie Fireproof. May I recommend the movie to any and everyone. It was fabulous. A small disclaimer to all the women out there, if you choose to wear make-up, wear water proof mascara! GREAT GREAT Movie.

And finally to round out our Halloween weekend we had to discard the fly infested pumpkins. What better way to that you might ask? Well we decide to load them up in our wagon, wheel them down the driveway and feed them to our goats. The kids just thought this was the just about the greatest Sunday evening project Mom had ever come up with. They probably spent hours down with the goats running with them and mixing them up soups and stews to eat! It was pretty entertaining.

With that I must end our weekend stories! And don't forget to go vote tomorrow.
